Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Sergio Reguilon - Manchester United injury news and return dates
Manchester United return to action this weekend when they take on Sheffield United in the Premier League.
Erik ten Hag's side won their final fixture before the international break in dramatic style, coming from a goal down to beat Brentford with a Scott McTominay injury-time double. The Reds will be hoping to follow that up with three points at the rock-bottom Blades who have taken just one point from 24 on their return to the top flight.
United have been battling an injury crisis for much of the season with a host of players missing matches thus far. There is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel with players returning to training but the Reds were dealt a blow in midweek when Casemiro picked up a knock on international duty with Brazil. Here's the latest injury news from Old Trafford.

Casemiro
The midfielder has remained in Brazil, on the club’s advice to recover from a minor injury. He will miss the game with the Blades and is banned for the game for the Champions League game with FC Copenhagen at Old Trafford.
Possible return date: October 29 vs Manchester City.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Wan-Bissaka has missed each of United's last six matches with a hamstring injury, last appearing as a late substitute in the 3-1 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last month. He was omitted from the starting line-up that day because of illness and got injured during his cameo role
Possible return date: October/November.
Raphael Varane
The Frenchman was absent for the third time in the last five Premier League matches against Brentford, missing out because of a 'minor issue.' But he has returned to training and is in line to feature against the Blades.
Possible return date: October 21 vs Sheffield United.
Lisandro Martinez
Unlike his centre-back partner, Martinez is a long-term absentee. The Argentine has suffered a recurrence of the foot injury that sidelined him earlier this year and it is possible that, in the worst-case scenario, he will not play again this calendar year.
If his recovery goes according to plan, though, he could be back before the end of 2023 and feature in the busy Christmas period.
Possible return date: December 2023/January 2024.
Victor Lindelof
Lindelof was forced off in the second half against Brentford but featured in Sweden's clash with Belgium earlier this week, playing the first half ahead of the game being abandoned at the interval because of a major incident. He returned to training on Thursday and Ten Hag confirmed the defender is available for selection this weekend.
Possible return date: October 21 vs Sheffield United.
Luke Shaw
The England international, who played a key role in United's success last season, has been sidelined since late August with a muscle injury. The Reds, at the time, confirmed that he was set to miss "a number of weeks". Ten Hag may provide an update on his recovery when he speaks to the media later this week.
Possible return date: October/November.
Tyrell Malacia
Fellow left-back Malacia has not kicked a ball for United since May 28, missing the start of this season and the whole of pre-season. The Manchester Evening News understands Malacia sustained the knee injury last season and the club initially looked to manage it with pain injections, but surgery was eventually required. It's understood the player was on crutches after the injury and he spent some time in the Netherlands to recover. He's now back in Manchester and sources have indicated he's expected to return before the New Year.
Possible return date: December 2023 / January 2024.
Sergio Reguilon
The on-loan Tottenham Hotspur defender has missed each of United's last four matches due to a mixture of illness and injury. He missed the win over Brentford with a muscle problem but has returned to training and is in contention to feature this weekend.
Possible return date: October 21 vs Sheffield United.
Kobbie Mainoo
The eagerly anticipated return of academy star Mainoo might not be too far away. After suffering an ankle injury in pre-season, he has been building up his fitness at Carrington in recent weeks, so much so that he was spotted participating in team training ahead of the Champions League defeat to Galatasaray earlier this month.
Though Ten Hag could issue a concrete update on him later this week, it is possible, after a couple more weeks' worth of training, that he could make the squad this weekend.
Possible return date: October 21 vs Sheffield United.
Amad
The Ivorian international has been sidelined since July with a knee injury. He has been working hard on his recovery, recently sharing positive updates on social media, hinting that a return might not be too far away.
Possible return date: Unknown.
