Manchester United regained second place in the Premier League table with a spectacular comeback victory over Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Nemanja Matic’s stunning stoppage-time strike completed the turnaround as the Reds fought back from two goals down to shatter the relegation-threatened Eagles at Selhurst Park.Andros Townsend’s deflected strike gave the hosts an early lead and Patrick van Aanholt doubled their advantage early in the second period after a quick free-kick caught United’s defence napping.
However, the visitors responded quickly through Chris Smalling’s fine header, before top scorer Romelu Lukaku restored parity with his 23rd goal of the season.
There were further chances at both ends and another incredible save to add to David De Gea’s CV, but it looked like the spoils would be shared – until Matic’s last-gasp, long-range intervention.
