YOUNG UNITED TRIO NAMED IN ENGLAND SQUAD

Three Manchester United youngsters have been named in the England Under 17s squad for the Algarve Tournament taking place this month.

Defender Ethan Laird and midfielders Mason Greenwood and Jimmy Garner are part of a 21-man roster who will head out to Portugal next week as Steve Cooper’s side step up preparations for the European Championships on home soil in May.
The young trio's inclusion is further recognition for an impressive season so far in Kieran McKenna’s Under-18s side, who currently sit top of the Premier League U18 North table after 13 games.
They also follow in the footsteps of Angel Gomes, who helped England win the Under 17s World Cup in India back in October.
The Young Lions face opposition from host nation Portugal, Germany and Netherlands at the annual competition, which takes place in and around Faro, starting next week.
They kick off against Portugal on Friday 9 February at the Sport Park Nora in Ferreiras, before facing Germany two days later at the Algarve Stadium in Almancil. The competition is then rounded off on Tuesday 13 February, when England face the Dutch at the Algarve Stadium.
