ALEXIS SANCHEZ THE STAR MAN

Alexis Sanchez was the runaway victor of our Man of the Match poll following his first goal for Manchester United in the 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town.

The no.7 collected 86 per cent of the votes to finish ahead of fellow nominees Juan Mata and Marcos Rojo.
It was a performance that once again illustrated the character and strength of the South American, who was a constant target for fouls.
Indeed, Opta revealed he was fouled as many times (seven) as any other player in a Premier League game all season and this was despite the fact he was left grounded on several other occasions without being awarded a free-kick.
One of the fouls, by Michael Hefele, who had already been booked for flooring the Chilean, resulted in a penalty that he took in front of the Stretford End. saved the spot-kick but Alexis pounced on the rebound to double the lead after Romelu Lukaku's opener.
"Alexis played in a three and he played at Old Trafford for the first time," said Jose Mourinho after the game. "He enjoyed the dynamic of the team. He’s a fantastic player but not a prima donna; he’s a humble guy who doesn’t forget where he started. I’m pretty sure that when he was playing in Chile, he had difficult places to play and difficult opponents, so he’s quite used to it."
Alexis was involved in 33 duels throughout, to put that into context, the next highest for United was Antonio Valencia on 12, and he made five tackles - at least three more than any of his colleagues. He mustered six shots and provided three key passes.
Yet none of the statistics available can perhaps accurately reflect the passion and commitment shown by a player who is always looking to drive forward and take risks. It is clear Old Trafford already has another new hero.
