WHICH VALENCIA THUNDERBOLT WAS BETTER?
Manchester United full-back Antonio Valencia blasted home the opener in the 4-0 thrashing of Everton, with the Ecuadorian's strike reminiscent of his goal against Blackburn Rovers in 2012.
We decided to compare the two sensational efforts and asked fans on Twitter which one they preferred. Our video displays the goals side by side.
Valencia v Everton, United 4-0 Everton, Old Trafford, 17.09.2017The skipper got the Reds off to the best possible start against Everton as he thundered Nemanja Matic’s crossfield ball past Jordan Pickford.
The goal, Valencia’s first of the season, came after just four minutes, and it proved to be the difference between the sides for much of the game.
However, United’s pressure finally told in the final 10 minutes as Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial all netted to secure a 4-0 win for Jose Mourinho’s men.
Valencia v Blackburn Rovers, Blackburn 0-2 United, Ewood Park, 02.04.2012.After receiving a pass from Rafael on the right flank, Valencia proceeded to jink outside his marker and fire an unstoppable shot across Paul Robinson into the far corner of the net.
The Ecuador international’s goal came in the 81st-minute, and broke the deadlock, on what had previously been a frustrating evening in Lancashire for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side. It was later voted our Goal of the Season.
Ashley Young went on to net United’s second of the game, five minutes after Valencia’s howitzer, which ultimately handed the Reds all three points.
