MAN OF THE MATCH: MAROUANE FELLAINI
Marouane Fellaini was the deserving recipient of the Manchester United Man of the Match award for his performance in the 3-0 victory over FC Basel.
The Reds' no.27, who returned to action after recovering from a calf injury, replaced captain-for-the-night Paul Pogba after the Frenchman went off injured in the first half. The substitute capped a fine display by opening the scoring with a fine header - the 100th UEFA Champions League goal scored by a Belgian player.
Fellaini claimed 80 per cent of the votes in our Twitter poll, with Ashley Young receiving 13 per cent and Nemanja Matic seven per cent.
United manager Jose Mourinho commented afterwards: "I keep saying the same about Fellaini. He is a player with special qualities and he gives me multiple areas of action. He is one of my most important players."
Fellaini's performance certainly caught the eye of these Reds fans on Twitter...
Pat O'Connell (@oconnell2511990): "He got my vote for sure, he played great tonight after coming off the bench."
Paul Irwin (@bluedogspaul): "He was everywhere he needed to be tonight from the moment he got on the pitch."
Carlos Monyi (@CMonyi): "Answering critics in style with a goal and assist. Well done."
