TALKING POINT: RUTHLESS REDS

This week's Talking Point is on the back of Manchester United's 4-0 victory over West Ham in the Premier League opener on Sunday.
We asked fans on Twitter if the ruthless display suggests the Reds will be turning last season's home draws into wins. After the Hammers took a point from a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in 2016/17, the progress was marked with Romelu Lukaku (2), Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba all on the scoresheet.
Paddy Crerand also gave his views on his MUTV show and was full of praise for the Reds' opening league performance of the season.
When asked if the Reds can turn more draws into wins by showing the same ruthlessness, he said: "I think with the quality of players we've got, yes. They are ruthless in other ways too because [in Nemanja Matic] we now have a player in the middle of the park who can look after himself and I think the big centre-forward [Romelu Lukaku] can look after himself too.
"When you've got people who are not afraid of anything, that’s a big bonus because sometimes on the pitch you can frighten players sometimes. I don't think teams will scare United now because we are a big, strong side. If you look at the performance United gave on Sunday, if we can keep the squad together without someone getting injured, we could have a great season."
Some of the best Twitter responses are listed below:
@Nataly_Antar - With the new signings , I am pretty sure that things will turn to our favour this season! PASSION and Winning mentality! #MUTalkingPoint
@LAREDARMY - That's what we're all hoping for. Today was a great overall display, but let's keep a level head. One game at a time. #MUTalkingPoint
@aobrien7 - It's early, but I think so, yes. Fans feed off the electricity on the pitch. United has speed and strength all over. #MUTalkingPoint
@akshayd_mufc - Being ruthless and clinical in front of goal will do it. Just like Boss said there's a lot of scope for improvement. #MUTalkingPoint
@sanderperee - I think so! Matic is a great additon to the squad! He allows Paul Pogba to go forward and being more dangerous in attack! GGMU #MUTalkingPoint
@charoville - This is the first of many wins at home if the lads continue playing like this... GGMU #MUTalkingPoint
@drewney2000 - If we can keep this performance up I can see us bettering 16/17 for results & league position. Lukaku's goals will be crucial #MUTalkingPoint
@MancSel - It shows we are hungry & with hard work, discipline and passion we CAN & WILL improve on last season. We are aiming higher #MUTalkingPoint
@DavidOchola12 -  I think yes but we have to make sure goals are scored in the first half for the lads to settle and express themselves #MUTalkingPoint
@oluwaseyi_lani - I believe this season would be different. We have added some things into our game. Pace, confidence & ability to break opposition's play. #MUTalkingPoint
@Tuffty88 - Lukaku up front could suggest we could get some much needed goals against clubs down below which really cost us last season #MUTalkingPoint
@haziqzargar1 - The players looked hungry for more goals even after getting the 2nd & 3rd. Everyone looked lively and willing to dig in. #MUTalkingPoint
@Silcar2013 - No doubt about that. A day to forget the draws at home from last season. Speed & pace on the counter. Beautiful display. #MUTalkingPoint
@PRINCECRUSADER - Ooo yeah, last season we missed glorious chances. With dynamic midfield now and more chances created, we will deliver... #GGMU #MUTalkingPoint
@PinchiNick - Absolutely... With Matic holding down the defensive mid position, and Pogba being freed up to attack, it gives us more to do with Lukaku #GGMU #MUTalkingPoint
@BryteDude - If today's display is replicated all through the season, I foresee Old Trafford reverting to the fortress it's meant to be. #MUTalkingPoint
@nimaisinha -  This team looks vastly different from what it was last season & raises hopes of better performance. Jose has certainly made the difference. #MUTalkingPoint
