JOSE'S PRESS CONFERENCE

RECAP: JOSE'S PRESS CONFERENCE
Jose Mourinho held a press conference and spoke to MUTV on Friday afternoon to preview United's Premier League opener against West Ham. The graphic below allows you to catch up on the main headlines, before scrolling down for much more detailed accounts of what the manager told the media.
THE BOSS ON ZLATAN
“I just think he was very clear by showing what he did last year was not enough for him,” Jose continued. “He wants more at football's highest level, so we are having conversations and we are discussing the possibility of him staying with us for the second part of the season.” Read Jose's comments on Zlatan in full.
JOSE ON THE REDS’ SUMMER BUSINESS
“I'm happy with the effort the club did, I'm happy that the club managed to do 75 per cent of the work before the Premier League starts,” he said. “And if, until 31 August, the remaining 25 per cent don’t arrive, I will not moan. I will just go with everything I have to try to win every match we play.”
MOURINHO ON UNITED’S NEW SIGNINGS
“We got a central defender that can play in many other positions, which is important. Victor can play right-back and can play centre midfield,” the boss continued. “We got a centre midfielder, we got a striker. Obviously [we wanted] a player for another position playing from the sides, but we have players and if you cannot strengthen the team in these areas, we have people that we trust and we go for it."
MANAGER ON THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
“The Europa League is not the Champions League - obviously it is more difficult to win the Champions League than the Europa League - but also the motivation is higher,” he added. “This season, in relation to the Champions League, it's not hard to motivate them to play against Real Madrid, Barcelona, the top English teams - if we go through the group stages - Bayern Munich, Juventus.”
MOURINHO: SEVEN TEAMS WILL FIGHT FOR THE TITLE
“The Premier League is what you all know. I would say seven teams to fight for the title and 20 teams to fight for the victory every weekend, every match,” he said. “This is the Premier League - different to any one of the other leagues, and I worked in three other leagues, apart from the English one.”
JOSE ON WHAT IT MEANS TO WIN THE PREMIER LEAGUE
“What does it mean for me to be the Premier League champion? I think it's the objective of every one of the top teams and every one of the top teams' managers,” the boss said. “I would say I'm really happy to start the Premier League this weekend, because our pre-season was very complete, and I think we are ready.”
TEAM NEWS
In his interview with MUTV before the press conference, Mourinho has confirmed that there are no new injury concerns ahead of United's Premier League opener, and all three of his new signings are available to make their domestic debuts in red, while Phil Jones and Eric Bailly are also available after missing the Super Cup match through their European suspension.
AWAITING THE BOSS
Jose will be taking his seat in the Jimmy Murphy Centre shortly as he prepares to answer questions from the media.
